First Annual Toy Drive December 2016
"WHITTIER, CA (November 30, 2016) – Tri-Cities ROP, located on the Pioneer High School campus in Whittier, is proud to announce its First Annual Toy and Gift Drive, November 28 through December 14, 2016, benefitting the children of Maryvale in Rosemead. Since 1856, Maryvale has cared for orphaned, abused, and neglected children, evolving into a social welfare organization, nurturing traumatized youth in the foster care system.
Statistics show that there are nearly 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. Tragically, foster children are among the most at-risk and underserved children in American society.
Tri-Cities ROP Superintendent Tracie Zerpoli stated, “Our staff wanted to do something meaningful this holiday season. They decided to forego their annual holiday gift exchange and, instead, hold a toy and gift drive for the children of Maryvale. “It just makes perfect sense,” said Superintendent Zerpoli. “Our teachers and staff have a great love for children, and having the opportunity to help those who have been abandoned or neglected truly touched their hearts.”
“I am so excited to be a small part of making Christmas special for children in need of some love,” said Secretary Mia Burrola. Mia’s sentiment was echoed by Cal High Health Academy Teacher Liz Tabb who stated, “We are doing a food drive at the Health Academy. It is the time to give and I will have something for the toy drive for Maryvale as well.”
Tri-Cities ROP will be happy to accept new toys and gifts from the community for their drive during normal business hours from now until December 12."
